Port Stanley Sailors

Sailors History #setsail

The Sailors were formerly known as the Belmont Bombers, playing their last season as the Bombers 2005-2006

Prior to the 2006-2007 season, the organization opted to change their name to the Central Elgin Express. This was done as the team was going to be splitting their home games between Belmont and Port Stanley

During the 2007-2008 season, the Central Elgin Express played all of the team's home games in Port Stanley, which was formerly home to the Port Stanley Lakers, which became the West Lorne Lakers before leaving the OHA

In the summer of 2008, it was announced that The Central Elgin Express had been sold by Peter North and Bill Walters to a group of four equal owners led by St. Thomas resident Dale J. Howard. Other ownership partners included Harold Lang, Matt Stolk and Mike Carson

Due to the OHA scheduling process completion in before the 2008-2009 season, the league saw the Port Stanley Sailors re-enter the league for the 2009-2010 season

The Central Elgin Express/Port Stanley Sailors were once the affiliate Junior C market for the St. Thomas Stars of the Greater Ontario Hockey League from 2007 to 2010

For the 2021-2022 season the Sailors started a rebrand of the club, including a new logo, jerseys and social media presence and continue to do so going forward
